UK carrying advice. Fit comes first.

Roof Box & Rack

Editorial policy

How Roof Box & Rack researches, compares and updates carrying-equipment advice.

Our guides help UK drivers choose a carrying setup for their vehicle and load. We answer the practical question first, then explain the dimensions, trade-offs and limitations that affect the decision.

Choosing products

We identify the exact model and retailer variant before writing a recommendation. A shortlist covers useful differences in shape, weight, access or carrying method.

We compare published specifications, reconcile differences between documents and calculate practical trade-offs. The method, inputs and sources accompany our original analysis so readers can follow the workings. The practical differences between products decide the order in which we explain them.

Fit and safety

We do not infer vehicle fit from size, photographs or a similar car. Manufacturer fit tools, vehicle handbooks and the actual equipment instructions are essential. Torque settings, load limits and driving guidance must be specific to the equipment; a figure from one system cannot be treated as universal.

Updates

Buying guides display the month and year of the latest substantive update. We recheck recommendations and sources when information changes and make relevant corrections. A dated check is not a promise of current retailer stock or price. See our source policy for evidence standards.

For a correction, send us the article URL and any relevant manufacturer document or exact model number. We check the underlying source and correct advice where needed. We do not change an article's update date simply to make unchanged advice appear newer.

Editorial photography

Some lifestyle photographs are generated illustrations of journeys, packing and storage. They illustrate the subject and do not certify a fit. Product photographs come from Amazon’s authorised image service and are kept separate from those editorial scenes.
