Roof Box & Rack
Help with a carrying setup
Find the right fit, loading, clearance or troubleshooting guide, and the information to collect before contacting the manufacturer.
Start with the question you need to settle. Vehicle fit, a luggage allowance and a fault with existing equipment need different information. Our guides can help you organise the checks; the manufacturer must resolve an unconfirmed fit, contradictory instruction or damaged component.
I do not know which bars fit my car
Use the roof-bar system guide to distinguish bars, feet and any vehicle kit. Record the exact make, model, year, body style and roof type before opening the manufacturer's vehicle selector. If the configuration is missing or unconfirmed, ask that maker or a competent fitting specialist before ordering. Do not substitute the result for a similar vehicle.
I need to know whether a box fits or what I can carry
Use the complete box-fit checklist for the installation. Check hatch and spoiler clearance and permitted bar spacing separately. For luggage weight, collect the applicable vehicle, rack and box ratings, plus the empty equipment weights, then use the roof-load calculator. A positive luggage allowance does not establish physical fit.
If the problem is the bags themselves, compare their packed shape with the usable internal dimensions. For a garage or car park, measure the complete travelling height and plan the restricted entrance and exit before driving there.
Something will not close, feels loose or is damaged
Use the guide for the symptom you can actually observe:
- Lid, lock or trapped-key problems: check the prescribed packing and closure sequence before forcing a mechanism.
- Water inside the box: separate wet contents, closure issues and a potential shell or seal fault.
- Lid supports that will not hold: identify the exact model and support parts before replacement.
- Loose mounting clamps or bike-carrier movement: inspect the specified attachment and condition before travelling.
- Cracked or impacted shell: stop using it and follow the manufacturer-assessment route.
Do not continue travelling with damaged or missing mounting parts. The spare-parts and instructions route is a starting point for Thule equipment; use the actual maker for other brands.
What information should I send for product support?
Collect the equipment model and part numbers, the vehicle details, the relevant instruction page and a clear description of the issue. Keep the receipt and photographs available for the manufacturer or retailer, including any conflicting dimensions or load figures. Our warranty and purchase-support guide explains the ownership checks.
Contact the retailer for an order, delivery, return or damaged purchase. For an article correction or a website problem, use our contact page and include the page link. We cannot confirm physical fit from a photograph or arrange a retailer's return.
